Tomorrow night Little Creek Casino Resort hosts their spooktacular “Halloween Costume Contest” in Starlight. I have to admit, Halloween is one of my favorite times of year! I love to see all the freaky and fun decorations in people’s front yards and all the candy and costumes in the retail stores… and of course, all the happy kids! Something about this holiday over all others seems stress-free and care-free. So, when Little Creek’s Marketing Manager asked me to create a graphic for their Costume Contest, I was thrilled and got right on the above design! Essentially this is one giant illustration that was off-set with enough texture to have a photographic feel. The glowing orange eyes, crackling teeth and blood-raw gums were all hand drawn in Illustrator, then given lots of love in photoshop. I think this monstrous design, for some reason came out looking like a “Purple People Eater” (even though it has two eyes, no horn and I don’t think it could fly). That wasn’t the concept initially, but I have embraced the label as a few people casually have referred to it as the “Purple People Eater.” Oddly enough, the “hair” on this monster is actually a photo of green grass that I gave depth and definition to, then obviously colorized it purple. The layout stayed true to the Casino’s brand which incorporates waves in their advertisements across the top or bottom, or both. If you have any graphic design needs that are frightfully important for your next event, or would like to add some illustrative concepts to your everyday brand, please contact meand let’s get started today!
